Licence Block Surveys

Licence Block Surveys provide an RSDD-H assessment of exploration prospectivity within any given licence block area.

What do they provide?

They are often performed as hybrid or combination surveys, where an area-wide initial mapping of the block is used to identify primary prospectivity patterns.Anomalies are mapped, categorised and inventorised as "Initial Exploration Focus Areas" or "IEFAs". These IEFAs are then mapped at higher resolution and the results integrated into the block-wide final RSDD-H prospectivity map (the "Map"). The Map is the foundation of the final survey report which also includes a description and discussion of the survey, its issues and limitations, its identified prospect inventory ("PI") and an exploration risk assessment and prospectivity ranking of the PI (the "Report").Where existing fields are present in the survey area their RSDD-H expression is discussed and used to calibrate the apparent effectiveness of the survey and its bearing on the exploration risk of the untested PI. Reports usually include also a number of RSDD-H processed satellite images of the main prospective features (the "Gallery") and a short set of possible business options and recommendations for future exploration progression of the block.

When are Licence Block Surveys most useful?

They can be used at any time in the duration of an exploration licence or PSC tenure of lands but perhaps provide optimal value at the front-end when initial focus is required before the main expenditure phases of seismic and drilling, or at the latter end when exploration relinquishment or block conversion decisions are imminent.

Exclusivity?

Licence Block Surveys are normally provided on an exclusive basis to the Licence Block holder for a specified period before they revert to non-exclusive product status.
