Shale gas and Hydrocarbon "Resource Plays" are the major new breakthrough in the supply side equation of the world's petroleum endowment. The advent of extended reach horizontal drilling and multi-stage hydraulic fracturing of hydrocarbon saturated, non-permeable rich source rocks is opening up an entirely unexpected new E&P arena world-wide.
RSDD-H surveys are a rapid, effective way of identifying whether or not particular basins or districts hold such well endowed Hydrocarobon Resource Plays. Where present, these plays generate a pervasive hydrocarbon charge RSDD-H signature that allows explorers to identify and rapidly detemine the extent and probable size of such probable "Resource Hydrocarbon" Play Fairways.
One such recent example of this regional surveying capacity is illustrated by the identification of the Late Cambrian - Early Ordovician Alum Shale fairway as a substantial gas shale play in Southern Sweden. Here, strong "hydrocarbon play expression" is clearly indicated by RSDD-H imaging. Scotforth has every expectation that Shell made a sound exploration licensing decision when it acquired a three year licence to examine and research this district's gas potential.
Scotforth has identified further such, as yet unlicensed, "Resource Hydrocarbon" Play Fairway prospective trends in various parts of the world. They await new licensees and exploration programmes. They are truly inviting opportunities.
Industry is pressing ahead with efforts to add new giant and super-giant discoveries in this evolving exploration arena. Scotforth has now surveyed large tracts of this "Zagros Province" and is collating an Atlas of New Prospects and Prospect Reports.
These Zagros Prospect Reports are now available commercially. A calibrating series of RSDD-H illustrations of known fields and recent discoveries in this region give good proven analogies to these prospects. A short document setting out the product contents and commercial terms and conditions for these reports is available on request. See also : Country Inventories - Kurdistan.
The emerging oil province of the Albertine Graben in Uganda shows all the signs of becoming a multi-billion barrel habitat with individual fields of up to 1 billion barrels. RSDD-H surveying predicts the presence of additional rich new provinces in the Greater East African Rift Basin system.
