Madagascar Heavy Oil Belt
Tsimiroro Heavy Oilfield District, Madagascar
A regional RSDD-H image oil play fairway of onshore Madagascar showing the Tsimiroro oil field district of the Morondava Basin and two probable giant field accumulation areas to the south of it (the strong, orange and black tone anomalous features).
This RSDD-H image moving sharply from its dark anomalous “core” into the non-anomalous basement terrain to the east. RSDD-H regional surveying can now proceed to map the entire playtrend and to identify further major reserves within the play fairway. RSDD-H high resolution surveying can then define, more locally, key sweetspots within them.
From this example and from other reconnaissance surveying in Madagascar's Heavy Oil Play fairway it is apparent that large additional oil reserves are present here and that numerous "development hubs" will be proven in the future. They should offer a substantial new producing petroleum province to the international market once modern heavy oil exploitation technologies are applied to them.
It is also noted here that some of the already identified RSDD-H "IEFAs" in the broader frame of western Madagascar's basins are not only untested but occur in geological locations that could offer lighter crude oil accumulations for conventional production development. Scotforth holds such IEFAs in its commercially available "prospects and leads" inventory.
